Spray Tanning: PreTreatment Steps

Common Spray Tanning Pre-Treatment Steps

OK, you’ve made it to the salon, hopefully early. You’ve taken our advice so far, and now you’re in the capable hands of your carefully selected spraytanning specialist. Don’t be nervous, here’s some advice on what you should expect..

Ideally your specialist, however even the receptionist can do, will sit you down and explain their specific procedures. A good first step is selecting your ideal SprayTanning solution. With all the advances in sunless technology, different solutions can all deliver slightly different results. They should all look pretty good, but selecting just the right one will have you looking your most natural. We’ve prepared a list of California Tan SprayTanning Solutions as well as SunFX SprayTanning Solutions

Any makeup, perfumes, moisturizers, deodorants, environmental pollutants, skin oils, dead skin, etc, will need to be removed prior to treatment. This is best accomplished through make-up removers and spraytan specific exfoliation scrubs, like California Tan Exfoliator or California Tan Exfoliator Towelettes. You may do this within their wet facilities, or they may offer you this service within the treatment area. If these services are not available, you will have had to have done this in advance

Bathrobe, slippers, disposable underwear, hair-cap, hair clip/band, nose plugs, and other accessories will be provided on the way in, or within the treatment room.

After your skin has been prepared, the final pre-application step may include use of barrier creams or other coverings to help prevent feet, palms, and nails from being exposed to the solution. Not only do these areas not normally tan, their natural texture tends to absorb the solution more readily, taking on more colour than surrounding areas. A good technician should assist you in making sure these areas are properly prepared for the most natural result

If the spraytan is performed by a specialist, they may give you some specific instruction before starting. During the treatment the equipment can be loud, so any important concerns you may have are best covered now.

If you are using an automated spraytanning system, carefully read or listen to any instructions. The equipment will only run for a short period of time and the service provider may not have touchup service, or charge extra for the service
